PURPOSE: Provided is a pharmaceutical composition containing a crude extract of Morus alba L. which protects neural cells, and effectively prevents and treats the neural diseases, such as ischemic stroke without toxicity. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition comprises a crude extract of Morus alba L., and pharmaceutically acceptable carriers. The crude extract is obtained by using a polar solvent, such as water, short chain alcohol, and a mixture thereof.
