PURPOSE: An electrode part and a lithium secondary battery employing the electrode part are provided, to prevent the deformation of a separator due to the heat impressed during the thermal melt welding of a case, thereby preventing the electrical contact between electrode plates and improving the stability of a battery. CONSTITUTION: The electrode part(40) comprises a positive electrode plate(41) comprising a positive electrode current collector and a positive electrode active material layer formed on at least one surface of the positive electrode current collector; a positive electrode lid(46) connected electrically with the positive electrode current collector; a negative electrode plate comprising a negative electrode current collector and a negative electrode active material layer formed on at least one surface of the negative electrode current collector; a negative electrode lid connected electrically with the negative electrode current collector; a separator(43) which is placed between the two electrode plates, whose width(W5) is wider than that of the electrode plates and whose width(W6) of the part exposed to the upper part(43a) of the electrode plates is different from that(W7) to the lower part(43b).
