PURPOSE: A method for reducing booting time of a digital instrument having a flash memory is provided to store a master file directory and a sector state table in a reserved region, and to accumulate the master file directory and the sector state table while booting, thereby reducing booting time of digital instruments. CONSTITUTION: When a mobile communication terminal is powered on(22), a controller of the mobile communication terminal generates a master file directory and a sector state table in an RAM(24). The controller updates the generated master file directory and the sector state table(26). When the mobile communication terminal is powered off(28), the controller stores the master file directory and the sector state table in a reserved region of a flash memory(32). When the mobile communication terminal is powered on again(34), the controller accumulates the stored master file directory and the sector state table in the RAM(36).
