PURPOSE: A spam mail preventing method and system is provided to forcefully prevent advertisement type spam mails, not wanted by a user, by using an authentication server. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises several steps. A user having an electronic mail account inputs data on authentic electronic mail senders, a mail server stores the input data and registers the input data at an authentication server(301-304). The mail server receives electronic mails from other mail servers(305, 306). The mail server checks whether a receiver of the received electronic mail is the same as the user(307). If the mail receiver is the same as the user, the mail server requests the authentication server to authenticate a sender of the received mail, namely check whether the sender is included in the registered authentic electronic mail senders(308). The mail server receives an authentication result, and stores the received mail at a mail box of the user if the authentication result is normal(309-313).
