PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a magnetic head from colliding with a ramp in the case that the supply of power is interrupted when the magnetic head is moved in the orientation of a ramp outside a disk. SOLUTION: When the supply of power is interrupted in a magnetic disk storage device which is provided with a spindle motor 310 for rotating a magnetic disk, a voice coil motor 340 for moving the magnetic head on the disk, a driver 120 of the voice coil motor for controlling the movement of the head and a boosting circuit 140 which generates a voltage for driving MOS transistors M7 to M10 which make currents flow through the voice coil motor 340, a voltage which is obtained by rectifying a counter electromotive voltage generated in the coil of the spindle motor 310 is boosted by a boosting circuit 104 and the drive control of the MOS transistors M7 to M10 for making the currents flow through the motor 340 is performed while operating a voice coil motor driving control circuit with the boosted voltage.
