PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type scanning optical system which reduces error of the terminal position of a scanning line, which is caused by plane tilt error, when being provided with a plane tilt error correction function. SOLUTION: In the reflection type scanning optical system with the plane tilt error correction function, a lens having a cylindrical surface which has the generatrix inclined from a sub-scanning direction is provided between a fθmirror 5 for scanning speed correction and a light receiving element 7 arranged in order to acquiring horizontal synchronization. The reflection type scanning optical system is so constituted that the direction of inclination of the generatrix of the cylindrical surface of the lens may accord with a direction in which a convergence position of a laser beam which should go to the light receiving element 7 is displaced due to plane tilt error.
