PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a caisson and method of its construction reducing the period of construction by reducing the amount of operations to be done at high positions on site and assembly and disassembly operations, thus eliminating the need to spend a long time before performing sinking and excavating operations. SOLUTION: The caisson 20 has a working chamber slab 23 having a working chamber 25 at its underside, and a caisson frame 21 provided over the slab 23. The caisson frame 21 comprises a plurality of jacket frames 40 to be filled with concrete or the like, with the adjoining jacket frames 40 joined to each other. The jacket frame 40 has a frame 41 provided with a plurality of reinforcements 41d, 41e, 41f, and a side wall panel 42 covering the outer or inner surface of the frame 41. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
