PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and precisely carry out temperature control at the time of forming; and to realize inexpensive and highly precise press-forming. SOLUTION: A press-forming apparatus 1 produces a desired formed article by heating or pressurizing a raw material G arranged between an upper mold 11 and a lower mold 12. The press-forming apparatus 1 is equipped with a vacuum pump VP for evacuating the periphery of the upper mold 11 and the lower mold 12, a radiation heater 20 for heating the upper mold 11, the lower mold 12, and the raw material G, and a press unit 7 capable of pressurizing the raw material G with both of a primary press load P2 defined beforehand and a auxiliary load P1 which is less than the press load P2. When the formed article is obtained by the press-forming apparatus 1, the upper mold 11, the lower mold 12, and the raw material G are heated by the radiation heater 20 and at the same time, the raw material G is pressurized by the auxiliary load P1 under a vacuum condition before the raw material G is pressurized by the press load P2.
