PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an installation method for an elevator hoistway pit member capable of easily installing the hoistway pit member at a specified position by a simple operation. SOLUTION: A car side shock absorbing stand 3 is installed at a specified position relative to a plumb-bob line 5 suspended to a reference position, and a machine stand 6 is installed at a specified position relative to the installed car side shock absorbing stand 3. A counterbalance weight side shock absorbing stand 7 is installed at a specified position on a hoistway bottom surface 2 through a first connection metal bar 12 and a second connection metal bar 13 relative to the installed car side shock absorbing stand 3 and the machine stand 6. Thus, an operation to suspend the plumb-bob line 5 to both the car side shock absorbing stand 3 and the counterbalance weight side shock absorbing stand 7 can be eliminated, and the pit member such as the machine stand 6 can be easily installed at the specified position on the hoistway bottom surface 2 by a facilitated operation to reduce an installation cost.
