PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil buffer suppressing a break of a dustproof structure preventing adhesion or invasion of a foreign matter into a gap between a peripheral part of a plunger and a portion close to the peripheral part by expansion and contraction movement of the plunger. SOLUTION: This oil buffer has: a cylinder 1 installed to a bottom part F of a hoistway such that the cylinder 1 projects upward; the plunger 2 projecting upward from an upper end part of the cylinder 1, and axially expanding and contracting to the cylinder 1; and annular dustproof members 3 installed to the upper end part of the cylinder 1 and upper end parts of steps 2b, 2c of the plunger 2, covering the gaps between them and the peripheral part of the plunger 2, and formed such that the dustproof members 3 contact with the peripheral part of the plunger 2 over the whole periphery.
