PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a buttonhole sewing machine capable of making a buttonhole stitch with good and upscale appearances. SOLUTION: A buttonhole sewing machine 100 comprises a seam forming mechanism for forming the buttonhole sewing stitch, e.g., an eyelet hole sewing stitch M by relatively moving a needle bar 26 and a feeding platform 29 for holding an item to be sewn; an operation panel 5 for setting control data for forming the sewing stitch M; and a CPU 1 for controlling the forming mechanism and forming the sewing stitch M based on the stitch data N2 created according to the control data. The control data includes sewing start position data and sewing end position data for setting the sewing start position and the sewing end position respectively, and the CPU 1 creates the stitch data N2 based on the sewing start position data and sewing end position data.
