PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio terminal unit that can be used by reducing the mental burden imposed upon the user and third persons by avoiding such an abuse that the unit gives an influence to other equipment with generated radio waves or a trouble to the third persons, and so on, in a prescribed area or under a prescribed condition, and to provide a system which controls the terminal unit. SOLUTION: The radio terminal unit is provided with a registering means which registers the information on radio wave restriction, a location detecting means which detects the geographical location of the radio terminal unit any time, and a discriminating means which discriminates whether or not the terminal unit is in a radio wave-restricted area by comparing the present location of the unit with the registered information. The terminal unit is also provided with a transmission power control means which restricts radio waves by controlling the transmission power of a radio section when the discriminating means discriminates that the terminal unit enters the radio wave-restricted area, and, conversely, releases radio wave restriction by returning the transmission power of the radio section to a normal level when the discriminating means discriminates that the unit is out of the radio wave-restricted area.
