A continuous first web (351) moving in a first machine direction (A) to obtain an absorptive member (302) for a disposable diaper has its outer surface coated with a hot melt adhesive agent (354), and then it is guided into between an upper cutter roll (361) and a lower cutter roll (362) and cut, thus forming an individual absorptive member (302). With the adhesive agent(354) pressed against the peripheral surface of a guide roll (363), the absorptive member (302) is guided into between the lower cutter roll (362) and the guide roll (363), and then transferred to an angle conversion roll (364). After the absorptive member (302) has changed its direction on the angle conversion roll (364), it is joined to a second web (352) moving in a second machine direction (B), through the adhesive agent (354). Preferably, the upper and lower cutter rolls (361, 362) have a diameter smaller than that of the angle conversion roll (364).
