PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shelf panel member for furniture consisting mainly of an improved glass panel and to provide shelf furniture using the shelf panel member. SOLUTION: This shelf panel member for furniture comprises: a glass shelf panel body 2; a thin sliced veneer 3 bonded to a part or the entire of its rear surface; and a protective paper 4 consisting of a thin paper bonded integrally to the rear surface of the sliced veneer, in the state of a cross sectional layer and is translucent or semi-translucent so as to transmit light from its upper side downward. Consequently, the shelf furniture using this shelf panel member transmits light from a light source downward, so that it never becomes dark in a space under the glass shelf panel body 2.
