PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated optical fiber having such structure that flaws, glass breaks or the like are not brought about in a glass end face of the coated optical fiber regardless of polishing processing for splicing of the glass end faces of the coated optical fiber. SOLUTION: In order to resolve the problem of flaws, glass breaks or the like in the glass end face, the coated optical fiber has an optical fiber coated with a thin coating which has≥1000 MPa Young's modulus (at 25°C) and is made of a ultraviolet curing resin, and an epoxy acrylate resin is used as the ultraviolet curing resin.
