PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device equipped with a sealant with excellent reliability. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with a first substrate, a second substrate placed opposite to the first substrate via a liquid crystal and a sealant to fix the second substrate to the first substrate and also concurrently to seal in the liquid crystal. An organic material layer is formed on the liquid crystal side surface of the first substrate. The organic material layer is formed on the region surrounded by the sealant and on at least a region outside the sealant where a circuit or a wiring layer group is formed so as to be extended thereto and, at the same time, at least a part of it is removed on a part out of the region where the sealant is formed.
