METHOD FOR LOCATING FAULT POINT IN TRANSMISSION LINE, AND SYSTEM USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for locating fault points in transmission lines for improving accuracy in locating the fault points. SOLUTION: Mode conversion is performed on a three-phase unbalanced transmission line of a power transmitting circuit into a plurality of virtual single-phase transmission lines by eigenvectors. On the basis of measured values of voltages and currents at both ends of the three-phase unbalanced transmission line, the distances KS0, KSα, KSβbetween a sending end S and a fault point (f) and the distances KR0, KRα, KRβbetween a receiving end R and the fault point (f) in the plurality of mode-converted virtual single-phase transmission lines (mode 0,α, andβ) are determined.
