PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic damper capable of restricting product irregularity, and improving setting degree of freedom of displacement dependence characteristics of damping force. SOLUTION: This hydraulic damper is provided with a cylinder 40, a piston rod 30 slidably protruded from the cylinder 40, a piston 20 coupled with the piston rod 30 to part the cylinder to an extension side oil chamber 1 and a pressure side oil chamber 2, an extension side damping valve 21 and a pressure side damping valve 22 to provide resistance to operating fluid flowing between the extension side oil chamber 1 and the pressure side oil chamber 2, and a bypass circuit 10 connecting the extension side oil chamber 1 to the pressure side oil chamber 2 when the piston is within a prescribed stroke to the cylinder. A spool 50 is provided to be extended in the axial direction of the cylinder 50 to get in slide-contact with the piston 50, and this spool 50 is formed as a separate body from the cylinder 40. A groove (bypass circuit forming part) 50a to form the bypass circuit 10 is formed in the spool 50. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
