Accumulator production process comprises pretreating fibrous electrodes to obtain planar surfaces and removing active material from the outwards facing fiber sides. A process for producing accumulators, having a pile or stack construction of battery sub-cells separated by partitions in contact with the surfaces of fibrous positive or negative electrodes in the form of fibrous frameworks filled with active material, comprises electrode surface pretreatment to obtain a planar surface and to remove an adhering coating of dried active material from at least the framework fiber sides facing away from the electrode surface to achieve improved contact between the electrode and the partition during cell operation when the electrode is pressed onto the partition. Independent claims are also included for the following: (i) an accumulator of pile or stack construction, produced by the above process; and (ii) a partition for the above accumulator. Preferred Features: The fibrous framework is formed of metal coated synthetic fibers.
