<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zirconia sintered compact having high tetragonal stability with time and excellent in strength, dimensional accuracy and surface smoothness. <P>SOLUTION: The zirconia sintered compact has an average crystal grain size of 0.2 μm or less, substantially no crystal grains having a grain size of 0.4 μm or more, and porosity of 1% or less. The method for producing the zirconia sintered compact comprises adding 0.1-1 pt. wt. of an alumina powder to 100 pts. wt. of an yttria-zirconia solid solution powder containing 97.5-96.5 mol% of zirconia, 2.5-3.5 mol% of yttria and 0.01 mass% or less of chlorine, molding the mixed powder, and sintering the obtained moldings at 1,200-1,300 °C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
