PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact superior in current breaking characteristics by stabilizing reignition characteristics of a contact alloy, and provide a vacuum breaker mounted with the same. SOLUTION: The contact of the vacuum breaker is composed of arc-resistant components consisting of Cr particle group having an average particle diameter of 0.1 to 150μm, a conductive component consisting of a CuCr matrix in which Cr of 0.35 wt% or less is made contained in the Cu, and a CuCr-Cr-C series alloy containing an auxiliary composition consisting of C. The total amount of Cr in the alloy is made to be 15 to 80 wt%, the amount of C being at least 30 wt% of the total amount of C is made to exist in the CuCr matrix, the amount of C in the CuCr matrix is made to be 20 to 800 ppm, and as for C contained in the CuCr matrix, its particle diameter is made below 5μm, and the spacing between particles is made at least 0.01μm.
