PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cool food very sanitarily, to efficiently cool small food, and to cool food in a neat state without deteriorating the yield. SOLUTION: The cooling device for food feeds food S onto a conveyor 2 arranged in a cooling chamber 1, transfers the fed food S by the conveyor 2 and cools it. The conveyor 2 is provided with a horizontal table 3, a plastic film 4 arranged so it can move on the horizontal table 3, and a driving mechanism 5 for moving the plastic film 4. The horizontal table 3 is provided with a cooling plate 3A for moving the plastic film 4 on a top face, and a cooling chamber 27 provided below the cooling plate 3A. The cooling chamber 27 is connected to a cooling fluid feeder 36 feeding cooling fluid, the cooling plate 3A is cooled by the cooling fluid fed from the cooling fluid feeder 36, and the cooling plate 3A cools the food S via the plastic film 4.
