PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent non-feeding of thick paper and tip turned-up of thin paper in a feeding device comprising a small diameter roller, for separating and feeding a sheet material one by one from a plurality of sheet materials inclined and stacked on a sheet material stacking portion; and to reduce size of the device. SOLUTION: This device includes the sheet stacking portion for inclining and stacking sheet materials, a feeding roller 11 for feeding the sheet materials 20 stacked on the the sheet material stacking portion, a separating roller 12 abutting against the sheet materials fed from the feeding roller 11, for feeding the sheet materials 20 one by one, a separating roller holder 21 for holding the separating roller 12, and a preliminary regulating holder 22 for regulating number of in-coming sheet materials for the separating roller 12, and it has an attitude control rib 22a for controlling attitude of the sheet materials 20 fed toward a separating means. The attitude control rib 22a is formed at a position where it does not interfere with the feeding roller 11 and the separating roller 12 in the sheet material width directions of the feeding roller 11 and the separating roller 12, at a level corresponding with a sheet material feeding surface of the feeding roller 11 or a level so as to bend into the sheet material feeding surface of the feeding roller 11.
