PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable release of a lock of a weight at a guide rail even when a vertical gap between the stopper and the weight of an elevator tie down device is narrow. SOLUTION: A weight 12 to tightly stretch a compensation rope 4 by energizing downward a tension wheel 8 around which the compensation rope 4 is wound is locked at a pair of right and left guide rails 6 to guide elevation of the tension wheel 8 in emergency. Since a jack to release the locking for the guide rail 6 by pressing down the weight 12 is held by a horizontal beam-form stopper 21 formed that a cylinder element 22 is fixed between the upper parts of a pair of the guide rails 6 on both sides, only a ram 23 is present between a stopper 21 and the weight 12. This constitution enables pressing down of the weight 12 by using the jack even when a gap in a vertical direction between the stopper 21 and the weight 12 is narrow. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
