<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for stably generating a converted gas including a high concentration of carbon monoxide, which is suitable for an atmospheric gas for carburization, while inhibiting temperature rise, temperature fall and formation of soot in a converting furnace, and to provide a method for using it. <P>SOLUTION: This apparatus for generating the atmospheric gas for carburization including carbon monoxide and hydrogen through a catalytic reaction, after introducing a raw mixed gas consisting of source gases such as carbon dioxide and oxygen, and hydrocarbon, into the converting furnace 14 having a catalytic layer, comprises a cooler 15 for cooling the converted gas generated in the converting furnace, and an adsorber 16 having an adsorption layer for separating moisture and carbon dioxide in the converted gas cooled by the cooler, by adsorption, both of which are installed in a down stream of the above converting furnace. The method for generating the atmospheric gas comprises introducing the raw mixed gas containing hydrocarbon of a lowered mixed ratio into the above converting furnace, catalytically reacting it, cooling the converted gas taken out from the converting furnace with the cooler, and then separating the moisture and the carbon dioxide in the converted gas with the adsorption layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
