PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of forming a high-quality recorded image having no irregular density by preventing the irregular electrification of the surface potential of a photoreceptor drum which causes a ghost image in the case of uniformly electrifying the photoreceptor drum by applying only a DC component to a contact electrifier. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus equipped with: the photoreceptor turning at specified processing speed; the contact type electrifier to which voltage consisting of only the DC component is applied and which electrifies the surface of the photoreceptor to attain uniform reference potential; and a toner temporary holding member electrically capturing toner by rubbing the surface of the photoreceptor on which a toner image has been transferred on a more upstream side than the electrifier, bias voltage applied to the toner temporary holding member when performing image forming operation has the same polarity as applied voltage to the electrifier and is set so that only the surface area of the photoreceptor which does not attain the reference potential is selectively electrified by the toner temporary holding member.
