PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly safe disposer which can prevent the hand of a person from being accidentally placed into the disposer during crushing of refuse. SOLUTION: Two switch members 2, 3 are provided in a dumping port part 1 of the disposer. One of the switch members 2 is a reed switch, and the other switch member 3 is a mechanical switch. A magnetic material 12 for turning the lead switch 2 on is embedded in a suitable place of a lid 10 in its collar part 16. A starting part 13 for turning the mechanical switch 3 on is provided on a flat part 18 provided on a suitable place of a side peripheral face 10a. When the lid 10 is mounted on the dumping port part 1 in its attachment/detachment position and is then rotated to an operation position, the magnetic material 12 and the starting part 13 correspond to the reed switch 2 and the mechanical switch 3, respectively. Therefore, the two switch members 2, 3 are simultaneously turned on to start the operation of the disposer. When the lid 10 is in the state of being removed, there is no possibility that the mechanical switch 3 is turned on. This can surely avoid the malfunction of the disposer and can realize high safety.
