PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device allowed to promptly realize expanded display with low power consumption, and mountable on a small appliance. SOLUTION: A control circuit 23 sets the frequency of a clock RCK for the line buffer read of a digital video signal DATA stored in a first line buffer to 1/n (n>1) of the frequency of a start clock S<SB>-</SB>CK serving as a transfer clock to the display portion 10 of the digital video signal DATA stored in the first line buffer 21 in a horizontal scanning period. Thus, the same digital video signal DATA is continuously transferred n times to the display portion 10 to expand an image to a factor of n in the transverse direction (in the horizontal direction).
