PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a partial display by selecting an optional partial display area, and to reduce the power consumption. SOLUTION: A mask circuit 210, which supplies video signals to each pixel of the partial display area selected in accordance with display area selection signals DS' and also masks the supply of the video signals to each pixel of a background display area is provided. Thus, the display device capable of partially displaying an optional pattern at an optional position can be realized. An inversion control circuit 250, which inverts the background display signals supplied to each pixel of the background display area at every one frame in accordance with display area selection signals DS' is also provided.
