PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely detect a synchronizing signal recorded in a recording medium. SOLUTION: A synchronizing signal reader 100 includes a storage section 108 which provides data regarding the synchronizing signal, a first header 102 which detects wobble 132, a second header 104 which reads the data, and a resolution section 106. The resolution section 106 includes a central controller 110 which performs information processing and also specifies the recording position of the synchronizing signal, a detection counter 120 which counts the number of wobbles at intervals in proportion to a sector among the wobbles 132 detected by the first header 102 and a selection circuit 118 which selects the wobbles at intervals in proportion to the sector among the wobbles 132 detected by the first header 102.
