PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a propeller shaft which absorbs impact applied to the propeller shaft by deformation of the propeller shaft itself while controlling the deformation direction to be within a certain ratio to the whole axial length of the propeller shaft. SOLUTION: This propeller shaft comprises a tubular body provided with joints at both ends, and the tubular body comprises a plastic straight tube that is partially diameter-reduced or enlarged to form a small tubular part 2 and a large tubular part 3 on the front and rear side having different outer diameter, with an annular step part 6 formed between both end edges of the small tubular part 2 and the larger tubular part 3 to provide the tubular body 1 with two stages. The annular part 6 is continuous with each of both end edges of the small tubular part 2 and the large tubular part 3 on the front and rear side. The annular step part 6 is formed by connecting a small tube arc edge 7 and a large tube arc edge 8 having an arc angle of more than 90°formed continuous from each of both end edges of the small tubular part 2 and the large tubular part 3 on the front and rear side to each other.
