PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of constructing an independent foundation that simplifies the construction of the independent foundation and a method of constructing a three-hinged buried tunnel. SOLUTION: The method of constructing an independent foundation comprising wall slabs and a base slab laid on a plan surface while connecting to the wall slabs is characterized by positioning a foundation body 1 in the form of approximately an L letter where the wall slabs 10 are integrated with part 12 of the base slab, with the wall slabs 10 laid on their sides and the part 12 of the base raised; re-positioning the foundation body when producing the remainder of the base 11 of the foundation body 1, so that the wall slabs 10 are raised while the part 12 of the base lies on its side; and producing an extension part 2 as the remainder of the base slab 11 of the foundation body 1 at the installed position of the independent foundation.
