<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which is equipped with an operating parts to a position in which an operating surface cannot be hidden and can be operated even if an original document bigger than an original document stand is placed. <P>SOLUTION: A control part 10 equipped with an operation indicator 6 composed of a liquid crystal display, or a start key 7, etc. is equipped integrally to the front surface side of a stand 3 carried on an apparatus body 1. The top face of the control part 10 is turned to slanting upward, and an operator who stands on the front surface side of body 1 looks down on the operation indicator 6. It is not only easy to carry out an operation but also easy in the visual inspection of the indication. Even if big original documents such as a map and a poster, etc. are placed on the stand, the control part 10 is located at a position higher than a part dislodged from the stand of the large original document. Therefore, an overflowing big original document does not cover the control 10 part from an upper side.
