<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device with a transfer device which prevents a transfer failure on the trailing end of a recording medium and image noises such as void of an image and scatter of toner. <P>SOLUTION: A toner image formed on a photoreceptor is transferred to an intermediate transfer belt 12 and moved toward a transfer device 10. A pair of timing rollers 14 are actuated with the timing of the arrival of the toner image on the belt 12 at a transfer position, and a recording medium P is carried to a transfer position (nip area N) while guided by the pretransfer upper guide 16 and pretransfer lower guide 17 of a guide unit 15. In the transfer position, the toner image is transferred to the recording medium P. In this case, the recording medium P is guided along the intermediate transfer belt 12 until the trailing end of the medium is separated from the leading end of the guide 17b of the pretransfer lower guide 17, thereby preventing transfer failure on the trailing end of the recording medium. In addition, the surface of the guide unit 15 is covered with a semi-conductive cover 18, thereby rendering the unit 15 antistatic.
