PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely boot up an electronic device equipped with a processor. SOLUTION: Machine instructions provided with bootstrap code are embedded in a critical component of a computerized game console, and the embedded machine instructions can not easily accessed and revised. ROM preloader section hashes the bootstrap code and compares the result obtained with a prediction hash value held in the bootstrap code. The boot process is verified further by the preloader. The preloader obtains the hash value of the code by hashing the code in ROM. With respect to a value of digital signature for defining the hash prediction value, the result is verified.
