摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adequately ensure the engine output according to the knocking status in an internal combustion engine in which a swirl is generated in an engine combustion chamber by controlling an air flow control valve of an intake passage, and knocking generation is suppressed through the lag control of the ignition timing. SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine 10 has an air flow control valve 30 on one of branched pipes 21 and 22 connected to intake ports 201 and 202. An electronic control device 40 closes the air flow control valve 30 to generate the swirl in a combustion chamber 12 if an engine running condition is transferred to a predetermined fully-closed area. The electronic control device 40 contracts and corrects the fully-closed area when the drop of the engine output accompanied by the ignition timing lag when the air flow control valve 30 is in a fully-closed condition exceeds the drop of the engine output accompanied by switching the air flow control valve from the fully-closed condition to the fully-opened condition.
