PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform flushing treatment without lowering recording speed, even if a line type ink jet head is used. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder comprises an ink jet head 1 having a number of nozzles ejecting ink over the whole region in the width direction of a recording medium which intersects the carrying direction of the recording medium, and a platen member 2 arranged at a proximity opposed position of the nozzles. A plurality of nozzle groups 11 having two or more nozzles assembled are arranged in rows on the ink jet head 1 at a specified distance in the width direction of the recording medium. While, the nozzle groups are set such that the adjacent nozzle groups 11 are overlapped with each other in part viewed from the carrying direction side of the recording medium, and the nozzle groups are continuously connected with one another, leaving no space between them as the whole nozzle groups. A protrusion section 22 supporting the recording medium is formed on a position facing the space of the nozzle groups 11 of the platen member 2. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
