<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-manufacturing cost mute structure in which expressive power in playing with a percussion instrument is improved by obtaining a mute effect with a simple configuration and by optionally changing the mute effect in the percussion instrument including a drum. <P>SOLUTION: The percussion instrument is formed by straining a drum head 2 tensed to one opening end or both the opening ends of a drum body 1 being the major body of the percussion instrument by straining lug bolts 5 and by means of a rim 4, or a hoop 8.
