PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lock a seat vertical device by surely and instantaneously stopping a seat holding member when a large load exceeding a normal load acts on the seat holding member such as a lower arm. SOLUTION: In this seat vertical device, the seat holding member (lower arm 12) holding a seat cushion 10 is connected to a floor installed member fitted on a floor side (upper rail 16 of a seat slide device) through link mechanisms 20 and 30. The height of the seat cushion 10 can be adjusted by operating the link mechanisms. A tension member (wire 60) is installed over an area ranging from a seat holding member side to the floor side including the floor installed member. When the large load exceeding the normal load acts on the seat holding member, the tensile member is pulled to the seat holding member side or the floor side. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
