PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tooth diagnostic apparatus using ultrasound and an ultrasonic sensor suited for diagnosis of teeth. SOLUTION: The ultrasonic sensor 1 comprises a tip portion 10, a search unit 20, and a body portion 30. The tip portion 10 is detachably mounted to the search unit 20. The search unit 20 is fixed to the body portion 30. Water 13 and a gelatin 12 are arranged in the forward portion of the search unit 20. Ultrasonic beams sent from the search unit 20 go through the water 13 and the gelatin 12 and are emitted in the direction of an arrow SB. During diagnosis, the tip of the gelatin 12 is directly contacted to the surface of a tooth and releases an ultrasonic beam to the tooth. By providing a reflective plate 14 in the ultrasonic sensor 1 and changing the progress direction of the ultrasonic beam, the diagnosis of a back tooth such as a true molar tooth and diagnosis of the rear of a tooth are facilitated.
