Bags are manufactured by moving intermittently flattened plastics tube 1, with or without side gussets, through a part making a transverse whole or part perforation 4, over a pressure support and guide 17 within the tube where hand grips 6 with connecting parts 7 are fed above and below the tube from stacks or rolls and heat sealed to the tube adjacent but downstream of the perforation, then tearing the tube at the perforation, e.g. by a roller, after which the open leading end of the next upstream bag length of tube is heat sealed to form the bag bottom. The heat sealing of the handles may be done from outside or by a heater inside the tube connected in circuit by electrodes piercing the tube. The handle connection 7 may have thin portions at which sealing occurs and the handles may have closure press buttons in recesses, the buttons being of the same thickness as the handle material and connected thereto in recesses by a thin diaphragm. . |
