A latch mechanism (10) is provided and includes a housing (12), a latch assembly (16) operably supported by the housing, and a toggle lever (30) slidably supported by the housing (12). The toggle lever (30) is in operable communication with the latch assembly (16) for selectively actuating the lat ch assembly (16) between a latched and unlatched position. The toggle lever (30 ) is movable between first and second modes for respectively establishing firs t and second pivot axis. In the first mode, the toggle lever (30) is operable for actuating the latch assembly (16) and in the second mode, the toggle lev er (30) is inoperable for actuating the latch assembly (16).
