PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct shading without correcting an image signal with a complicated algorithm or a large-scale correcting circuit. SOLUTION: A light radiating means which radiates light to an imaging object, and an imaging element which receives reflected light or transmitted light from the imaging object and generates an electric signal responsive to the quantity of the light received, are provided. A light receiving condition of the pixel of the imaging element is changed so that the shading of the signal from the imaging element may be corrected. The light receiving condition is changed by changing the areas of aperture parts of the pixels 10-1 to 10-5 of the imaging element, the shape of a lens arranged on the aperture part, the concentration of impurities in an photoelectric conversion area, or an accumulation time obtained by driving the imaging element.
