PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a setting apparatus for setting wireless LAN communication parameters, capable of easily and rapidly switching the parameter groups of of a wireless LAN system, and to provide a method for setting a wireless terminal and a wireless LAN communication parameters. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with a wireless LAN information table 1 and a parameter group selecting section 2. The table 1 stores the correlation between an identifier of each of a plurality of wireless LAN base stations and the of parameter groups required for communication between each of the wireless LAN base stations. The section 2 selects some parameter groups required to perform actual communication from among the parameter groups stored in the table 1. Since the parameter groups of the wireless LAN system to be used are selected, on the basis of attributes information of a wireless terminal, parameter groups having the highest utilization frequency can be set preferentially, and the set-up time of the wireless LAN system can be shortened.
