PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device capable of achieving trace control not influenced by a damage, a defect, decentering or the like on a disk to prevent the occurrence of lens offset which adversely affects R/W characteristics regarding an optical disk device for performing trace control by using a stepping motor. SOLUTION: The number of tracks covered within predetermined time is calculated from the lapse of time information on a disk such as an ATIP (Absolute Time In Pregroove) to be obtained during tracking, and the moving distance of a lens is calculated by multiplying this by a track pitch. A stepping motor is driven to feed a traverse by an amount equal to the calculated distance, and a pickup is accordingly moved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
