PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the operability, workability and convenience of a system by constructing informational continuity and relevancy between a digital world such as a computer and paper documents, incorporating the paper documents in a document information management system for the digital world, making it possible to directly access the digital world through the paper documents, realizing hypertext using the paper documents and in addition, automatically making medium paper identifiable. SOLUTION: This system is provided with a filing means 101, the medium paper 102, a reading means 103, a retrieving means 104 and an outputting means105. Written information on the medium paper 102 has a characteristic typeface, color, background or peripheral symbol. The reading means 103 is provided with a first reading means 106a for reading the written information, a medium paper identifying means 106b for identifying whether an original is the medium paper 102, and a second reading means 106c for reading selection information and connection information when the original is the medium paper 102.
