PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device in which fixing capability is improved as well as electrical efficiency. SOLUTION: The fixing device 30 has: a fixing roller 31 and a pressure roller 32 which rotate in pressure contact with each other, and a releasing agent application device 33 which applies a releasing agent on the fixing roller 31. The fixing device 30 fixes the unfixed image to the recording material by applying heat and pressure to the unfixed image while the recording material with the unfixed image is carried being held between the fixing roller 31 and pressure roller 32. The fixing device 30 is provided with: a temperature detection sensor 39 which detects the atmosphere temperature of the fixing device 30, and a releasing-agent temperature control device 38 which maintains the temperature of the silicone oil of the releasing-agent application device 30 at a set temperature corresponding to a temperature detected by the temperature detection sensor 39.
