PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire excellent in bead portion durability. SOLUTION: This pneumatic tire has: a carcass 5 made of a ply which is constituted of a body portion 3a and a folding-back portion 3b and in which a steel cord is coated by rubber; and a wire chafer 6 disposed along the outer surface of at least the folding-back portion 3b and in which the steel cord is coated by rubber. At least at either one of the folding-back portion 3b or the wire chafer 6, at least one bent portion 7 in which the steel cord is plastically deformed is provided when seen in the tire cross section. A cutoff load of the steel cord at the bent portion 7 of the folding-back portion 3b is set in a range of 40 to 75% of the cutoff load of the steel cord before plastic deformation, and the cutoff load of the steel cord at the bent portion 7 of the wire chafer 6 is set at 40% or more of the cutoff load of the steel cord before plastic deformation.
