PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a sheet feed efficiency by correcting distances between sheets and preventing a double feeding. SOLUTION: This sheet carrier comprises sheet accumulating means 34 to 37, a feed roller means 53, an actuator means 121, and a sensor means 101. When the carrying of sheet members is started from the sheet accumulating means 34 to 37 when the sheet members are carried continuously, and when the sensor means 101 detects the sheet members, the sensor means 101 observed again after the feed roller means 53 is set on standby without driving by a time required for carrying sheets through a distance between the sheet accumulating means 34 to 37 and the sensor means 101. When the sensor means 101 already detected the sheet members, a control to start a sheet carrying is performed by the actuator means 121 without allowing the feed roller means 53 to come into contact with the upper surface of the sheet members.
