A melt-spinning assembly produces a multi-filament thread and has a spinning jet (1) which extrudes numerous filaments (3) downwards through a cooling zone (6) with a free area for the moving filaments. The cooling zone has a cooling assembly (4) with an inner ring (7) especially with adjustable cross-sectional free area. The inner ring is made of a flexible material and fits within an axially-adjustable detent (14). The axial adjustment is effected by a pipe (8).
